About the event
Indra Yajña at Vasishtha Vedic Tapovanam
Yajña on the Full Moon Day (Pournami) is considered most auspicious in Vedic Sanātana Dharma. This sacred ritual is open to everyone — regardless of caste, varṇa, religion, or gender.
In this yajña, we follow the prayoga-vidhāna (ritual procedure) recommended by Śrī Ganapati Muni and meticulously structured by his beloved disciple Brahmarṣi Daivarāta Vaiśvāmitra. Through the chanting of ancient Ṛgvedic mantras, we invoke the blessings of the Vedic deities: Indra, Brahmaṇaspati, Agni, Vāyu, Savitṛ, Rudra (Śiva), Indrāṇī, Viśve Devas, Sūrya, Varuṇa, Viṣṇu, Vaiśvānara, Durgā, the sacred Cows (Gāvaḥ), the Waters (Āpo Devāḥ), and many more.
This yajña is performed purely in the ancient Vedic style, with 512 oblations (āhutis) offered into the sacred fire, followed by Gau-pūjā (worship of cows). Depending on the number of additional Ṛgvedic mantra-sūktas included, the yajña may last 3–4 hours or more.
