Indra Yajna | In English | Print Edition
Indra Yajña is a monumental work of research, translation, and spiritual dedication by Rachakonda Śrī Sūrya Phani Madhav (Guruji), created with the noble intention of reviving and preserving the supreme Vedic ritual of Indra Yajña. This 400-page volume stands as both scholarship and sādhana, born out of a full year of intensive study and fifty-two days of rigorous Yajña Dīkṣā undertaken by the author.
Rooted in the spiritual lineage of Kāvyakaṇṭha Vāsiṣṭha Śrī Gaṇapati Muni and his illustrious disciple Brahmarṣi Daivarāta Vaiśvāmitra, this work pays homage to their vision of restoring the ancient Vedic yajña tradition for the modern age.
The book is structured into three comprehensive sections.
The first section presents the philosophical and spiritual foundations of Indra Yajña, addressing essential questions such as the nature of Indra, the meaning of yajña, and the unity between Antaryajña (inner sacrifice) and Bāhya Yajña (outer ritual). It explains the sacred Vasiṣṭhopadiṣṭa Mantrakalpaḥ, the significance of yajña implements and procedures, and the transformative discipline of Yajña Dīkṣā.
The second section provides the complete prayoga vidhāna—the ritual methodology of Indra Yajña—systematically preserved by Brahmarṣi Daivarāta. It serves as an authentic step-by-step guide for performing the yajña according to the ancient Vedic tradition with clarity, precision, and sanctity.
The third section explores the Mantra Bhāva, presenting detailed explanatory commentary to help practitioners internalize the deeper meaning of the Vedic mantras. By illuminating the contemplative essence of the mantras, this section enables the yajña to be performed not merely as ritual, but as conscious spiritual participation.
The book carries a distinguished Foreword by Padma Shri awardee Dr. Sankurathri Chandrasekhar, and its publication has been generously supported by the Sankurathri Foundation. This edition is brought out in sacred memory of Dr. Sankurathri Venkata Appa Rau (1926–2007), as a tribute on the occasion of his centenary birth year in 2026.
More than a manual of ritual practice, Indra Yajña is an invitation to rediscover the living spirit of the Vedic tradition and participate in the timeless yajña vision of the Ṛṣis.
