Kavyakantha Sri Ganapati Muni's

Indrani Saptasati

tṛtīyo maṇimadhyā stabakaḥ

Indrani Saptasati - The 700 Verses Mystical work of Kavyakantha Sri Ganapati Muni

This Stabaka is a powerful hymn to Vāsava Śakti, the divine power of Indra, flowing as light, nectar, strength, prāṇa, wisdom, and spiritual force. Śrī Gaṇapati Muni begins by invoking even a small ray of the smile of Indrāṇī, the queen of the worlds, to grant auspiciousness, courage, and heroic strength. Her compassionate glance is prayed to remove the suffering of Bhāratabhūmi.

The early verses describe the many forms of the Mother’s glance and speech. Her glance is purifying for yogins, radiant for the Devas, cooling for devotees, and enchanting for Indra. Her speech gives courage, consolation, delight, and inspiration. Her beauty is portrayed through moon-face, cloud-like hair, lotus-eyes, golden radiance, pure smile, and divine ornaments.

The Stabaka then turns inward into a deep yogic prayer. The Mother is invoked not only as an external goddess, but as a living wave of Vāsava Śakti entering the sādhaka. This divine force purifies sorrow, removes darkness, refines the mind, strengthens prāṇa, breaks the inner knots, opens the head-centre, removes delusion, and makes the body firm like vajra. It flows from the sky through the head and spreads through the whole body as divine streams.

A striking teaching appears in the verses on three powers: illumination like the sun, delight like divine nectar, and sacred intoxication like soma. These three are present in Vāsava Śakti. The poet prays that this power may reveal truth, nourish noble joy, and increase divine inspiration within him.

The Stabaka also contrasts the paths of yoga and devotion. Some increase Śakti through yogic discipline; in others She grows through devotion and praise. What may take many years through yogic force can be granted quickly by the Mother’s grace to a devotee. The poet therefore prays that, whether through yoga, meditation, devotion, or kīrtana, the world-benefiting Vāsava Śakti may expand in his body.

The Stabaka concludes with a prayer to make him fit to protect sorrowful and prosperity-deprived Bhārata, for the good of all.
