## Indrāṇī Saptasatī — A Brief Introduction *Indrāṇī Saptasatī* is a profound hymn of seven hundred Sanskrit verses composed by the great Maharṣi-poet Kāvyakaṇṭha Vāsiṣṭha Śrī Gaṇapati Muni in praise of Bhagavatī Indrāṇī, also known as Śacī Devī, the divine consort of Bhagavān Indra. Divided into seven Śatakams and twenty-eight Stabakas, this sacred work presents the subtle principles of the Vedic, Yogic, Tantric, and Vedāntic paths, together with the inner secrets of tapas and spiritual transformation. The hymn is not merely a philosophical or poetic composition. Throughout its twenty-eight Stabakas, Śrī Gaṇapati Muni offers powerful prayers for purification from sins and karmic defects, freedom from debts and humiliation, protection from hostile forces, harmony in relationships, family welfare, fulfilment of noble desires, success in sacred works, and the protection of dharma and the nation. A central spirit of the *Indrāṇī Saptasatī* is complete surrender to the Divine Mother, beautifully expressed in the repeated prayer: *tavāmba caraṇaṃ vrajāmi śaraṇam* — “O Mother, I take refuge in Your feet.” Through such surrender, the devotee offers fear, sorrow, helplessness, karmic bondage, personal difficulties, and concern for the welfare of the world at the feet of the Supreme Śakti. Śrī Gaṇapati Muni affirmed that sincere recitation of this stotra brings the compassionate glance of Bhagavatī Indrāṇī. Traditionally, its recitation is believed to remove darkness, delusion, adverse forces, mental suffering, and obstacles on the spiritual path. It bestows clarity and purity of intellect, courage, inner steadiness, protection, prosperity, devotion, divine inspiration, and the awakening of the inner spiritual power. All seven hundred verses are regarded as mantra-like, containing within them the power of sacred sound, metre, divine presence, and spiritual truth. When recited with correct pronunciation, devotion, concentration, and surrender, the *Indrāṇī Saptasatī* becomes a powerful sādhana for personal purification, spiritual awakening, the fulfilment of noble resolves, service to Bhārata Mātā, and the restoration of dharma.
