Indrani Saptasati - The 700 Verses Mystical work of Kavyakantha Sri Ganapati Muni

This fourth Stabaka completes the Prathamaṃ Gāyatraṃ Śatakam of Indrāṇī Saptasatī. It is a deeply devotional, protective, and spiritually empowering hymn in which Śrī Gaṇapati Muni invokes Śacī Devī, Indrāṇī, as the beloved of Devendra, the Mother of the worlds, the giver of courage and intelligence, and the supreme divine power hidden in the heart of all beings.

The Stabaka opens with a prayer that the radiant smile of Indrāṇī may remove delusion and expand yoga within the heart. Her compassion is invoked to shine upon Bhārata, just as it shines in Her own heavenly realm. The poet bows to Her as the wish-fulfilling creeper for devotees, the most beloved life-force of Indra, the remover of sorrow, and the Mother of the universe.

A powerful theological vision unfolds through the repeated declaration: “daivaṃ mama śacī” — Śacī is my deity. She is described as present in the sky as incomparable power, beyond as pure consciousness, within the hearts of human beings as hidden divinity, and as the supreme fortune of the virtuous. She is the weapon of Maghavan, the śāstra of the disciplined, the protective covering of the three worlds, the inner peace of the yogic devotee, and the outer armour of protection.

Śacī is praised as the strength of the strong, the intelligence of the wise, the brilliance of the radiant, and the one cosmic power who creates, sustains, and dissolves. She places effective powers in the fields and the supreme potency in the seeds. She is the living energy behind nature’s processes of growth, nourishment, transformation, and dissolution.

The Stabaka then becomes intensely personal. The devotee prays for direct vision of Indrāṇī everywhere — in the unmoving and the moving, in all existence. He asks Her to remove the sins born of wrong thought, wrong speech, and wrong action. He prays for release from debt, protection from insult, transformation of enemies into friends, and the humbling of arrogant people into devotion.

The concluding verses are especially significant for protection, fulfilment, and national awakening. The poet asks Śacī to remove hardship, grant the desired good, bring joy to the beloved people, become a divine weapon against hostile forces, fulfil all noble needs, and strengthen his intelligence for the protection of his own nation, just as Indra’s arm is strengthened by Her power.

This Stabaka is therefore a complete prayer for inner yoga, purification, protection, courage, divine fulfilment, and service to the nation. It concludes the first hundred verses of Indrāṇī Saptasatī as a garland of devotion offered at the feet of the Universal Mother.
