Indrani Saptasati - The 700 Verses Mystical work of Kavyakantha Sri Ganapati Muni

This third Stabaka of Indrāṇī Saptasatī is a profound philosophical hymn in which Śrī Gaṇapati Muni reveals Indrāṇī Śacī Devī as the Supreme Power appearing through many names, forms, and theological visions. The Stabaka opens with a prayer that the moon-like smiles of Śacī, the queen of Śakra’s abode, may awaken pure wisdom in the heart. It also invokes Her compassion for the welfare and protection of Bhārata, which is wounded by sorrow.

A central vision of this Stabaka is the understanding of the vyoma-tanu — the divine form whose body is space. Some seers understand this cosmic manifestation as masculine, some as feminine, and some as the saguna Brahman beyond the division of male and female. In this way, the Muni beautifully harmonizes different spiritual traditions and philosophical standpoints without contradiction.

Śacī is identified with many divine names: She is Durgā, Aditi, Śivā, and Śacī, the śakti of Śakra. She is also praised as the great Prāṇa of the universe, as Rudra, as Praṇava, and as the lightning-crested Śakra. The hymn teaches that Prāṇa, Praṇava, and the light moving in space are not three separate realities, but one truth seen through three modes.

The Stabaka also presents a subtle teaching on Brahman and Śakti. Nirguṇa Brahman is beyond sound and other qualities, while Śacī is the saguna Brahman manifest with sound, beauty, power, and divine qualities. She is not separate from the Supreme Witness, yet She performs all the works of all the worlds. Thus, the Mother is both transcendental and active, pure and manifest, beyond creation and present in every movement of creation.

The imagery of Dyaus, the luminous heavenly expanse, is also invoked. The Muni declares that the heavenly space is both mother and father of the world, and that beyond the visible sky there is the pure, supreme Reality. Śacī is known as that full Aditi, eternal, sound-bearing, luminous Gaurī, protecting the entire universe through Her vyoma-body.

The concluding verses invoke Her supreme power to protect the distressed and to strengthen the mind of Vāsiṣṭha, just as She empowers the arm of Indra. This Stabaka is therefore a hymn of wisdom, unity, cosmic theology, and divine protection, showing that all names of the Divine Mother meet in the one supreme Śakti.
