Kavyakantha Sri Ganapati Muni's
Indrani Saptasati
dvitīyamauṣṇihaṃ śatakam,
prathamaḥ kumāralalitā stabakaḥ

This Stabaka begins the second śatakam of Indrāṇī Saptasatī, composed in the Auṣṇih metre. Śrī Gaṇapati Muni invokes the moon-white smile of Indrāṇī, the queen of Sureśvara, praying that it may purify the intellect and grant supreme strength. The opening itself combines two central blessings of Śacī Devī — clarity of mind and heroic power.
The hymn then turns into a prayer for Bhārata-kṣmā, the sacred land of Bhārata. The Mother is invoked to destroy hostile forces, restore auspicious conditions, and bring joy and strength to the nation. She is praised as the supreme Śakti who has taken a vow to protect those who bow at Her feet, and who is capable of bearing and sustaining the whole universe.
A major philosophical theme of this Stabaka is the subtle relation between mahas and svara — divine radiance and primordial sound. The Muni describes the Mother as the source of all experiences, all mental illuminations, and even the movement that becomes time. She shines in the vast sky as the fierce cosmic power called Prapañcakarī Caṇḍī, and as the giver of intelligence She becomes Gaurī; as the embodiment of threefold time She is remembered as Kālī.
The Stabaka also gives a profound symbolic interpretation of Indrāṇī’s traditional birth from Pulomā. The Muni explains that such Purāṇic language is parokṣa-vacana, an indirect symbolic expression used by the sages. Pulomā is connected with the rain-cloud, and Indrāṇī is understood as the immeasurable lightning-form arising from the cloud — deeply radiant and resonant. Thus, Śacī is not merely a mythological figure, but a cosmic power of light, sound, force, and revelation.
The concluding verses are devotional and protective. The poet bows to the ancient, noble queen of heaven and prays that when his intense karmic sin has ripened, She may remove it entirely. He further prays that Jayanta’s Mother may grant him enough strength to remove the sorrow of Bhārata.
This Stabaka is therefore a hymn of intellect, strength, cosmic sound, divine light, protection from karmic burden, and national upliftment.
