Kavyakantha Sri Ganapati Muni's

Indrani Saptasati

dvitīyo jaloddhatagati stabakaḥ

Indrani Saptasati - The 700 Verses Mystical work of Kavyakantha Sri Ganapati Muni

This Jaloddhatagati Stabaka is one of the most moving and powerful sections of Indrāṇī Saptasatī. It begins with a prayer that the radiant smile of Śacī Devī, Indrāṇī, the beloved of Mahendra, may remove the vast darkness within the heart. The poet then invokes Her compassionate sidelong glance to remove the misfortune of Bhāratakṣiti, which has become helpless and weakened in understanding.

The Stabaka presents a profound theological vision of the Divine Mother. Śacī is described as the intelligence of the Supreme, the sky-bodied power who sustains the universe, and the beloved power of Indra. She is identified with Aditi in the Prajāpati tradition, Ramā in the Janārdana tradition, Śivā in the Sadāśiva tradition, Uṣā, Svadhā, and Śacī in the Indra tradition. Thus, the Muni shows that all these divine names point to the one supreme Conscious Power.

The middle verses declare that sky, wind, sound, lightning, the sun, moon, fire, water, and earth are all expressions of the splendour of the Divine Couple — the Supreme and His Śakti. Even though the Mother is beyond form in the transcendent sky, She assumes forms according to the devotion and understanding of worshippers.

The most significant portion of this Stabaka is the repeated surrender: “tavāmba caraṇaṃ vrajāmi śaraṇam” — “O Mother, I take refuge in Your feet.” Here Śrī Gaṇapati Muni speaks not merely for himself, but for Bhārata. He laments the divided society, loss of strength, poverty, loss of heroic spirit, decline of ṛṣi-tradition, and the rise of adharma in Kali Yuga. In all these conditions, he turns only to the feet of the Mother as the final refuge.

The Stabaka concludes with a prayer that She may restore lost splendour to the motherland and make Gaṇapati Muni’s hands capable of serving and protecting Bhārata. It is a hymn of surrender, national revival, dharmic courage, and Śakti’s grace.

Highlights: Śacī as Aditi, Ramā, Śivā, Uṣā, Svadhā and Indrāṇī; unity of divine names; universe as Her vibhūti; surrender to the Mother’s feet; prayer for Bhārata’s protection, strength, prosperity, and revival of ṛṣi-heritage.
