Kavyakantha Sri Ganapati Muni's

Indrani Saptasati

dvitīyo rathoddhatā stabakaḥ

Indrani Saptasati - The 700 Verses Mystical work of Kavyakantha Sri Ganapati Muni

This Stabaka is a beautiful hymn of divine beauty, rasa, protection, and national prayer. Śrī Gaṇapati Muni invokes the smile arising from the lotus-face of Jayanta’s Mother, Śacī Devī, to wash away darkness, bless the worlds, delight Indra, and remove sin. He prays that Indrāṇī may protect Bhāratāvanī, whose people are weakened by lack of food, fear, division, loss of strength, and suffering caused by hostile forces.

The verses then describe the enchanting form of the Goddess: lotus-like hands and feet, breasts radiant like a pair of luminous wheels, a face that outshines the full moon, eyes filled with knowledge and power, red nectarous lips, a smile that destroys darkness, and hair beautiful like dark monsoon waves. Her voice brings joy to the sorrowful, and Her movement, speech, beauty, and yogic wisdom surpass all ordinary description.

A central theme of this Stabaka is Ādima Rasa, the primordial divine delight between Indra and Indrāṇī. The Muni presents the heavenly union of the Divine Couple in Nandana as the first expression of beauty, love, and rasa in the universe. Their divine play is not mere romance; it is the sacred source of joy, vitality, creativity, and cosmic harmony.

The poet humbly prays that if even a small touch of his hymn reaches the Divine Couple during their secret counsel in Nandana, his life becomes blessed. He then asks forgiveness if his cry interrupts their divine sport. The Stabaka ends with a prayer that Śacī may empower Gaṇapati Muni, the son of Narasiṃha, to remove the sorrow of Bhāratakṣiti and destroy hostile forces.

Highlights: Śacī’s smile as remover of sin; prayer for suffering Bhārata; divine form of Indrāṇī; Ādima Rasa of Indra and Śacī; Nandana as the field of divine play; Śacī as beauty, speech, love, power, and protection; prayer to empower Gaṇapati Muni for Bhārata.
