Indrani Saptasati - The 700 Verses Mystical work of Kavyakantha Sri Ganapati Muni

This Nārācikā Stabaka completes the third Ānuṣṭubha Śatakam of Indrāṇī Saptasatī. In this powerful hymn, Śrī Gaṇapati Muni invokes Śacī Devī, Indrāṇī, as the supreme divine force who removes inner darkness, strengthens prāṇa, protects Bhārata, and guides the world through dharma, yajña, and righteous action.

The Stabaka begins with a prayer that the gentle smile of the queen of the Devas may shake off the darkness within and expand the strength of prāṇa. The poet then prays that She may increase the merit of Bhārata, crush the accumulated burden of sin, and become the source of prosperity for the nation.

Śacī is praised as the playful companion of Indra in the celestial gardens, radiant like nectar, beautiful in form, and fierce in the destruction of hostile powers. She stands beside Indra as the divine force that gives joy to the Devas, fear to the wicked, and protection to the noble. For the distressed devotee who sees the fall of his country, the division of his people, and the decline of collective strength, Śacī alone becomes the refuge and path.

The philosophical core of this Stabaka presents Śacī as the presiding deity of Consciousness. The highest sound, the supreme svara, is under Her command. She pervades even the subtlest, shines in all objects, measures and contains the vast sky, governs all worlds, protects all spheres, and moves all bodies. She creates the three worlds, sustains them in play, and receives them back into dissolution.

The Stabaka also shows Her role in dharma. When righteousness declines, She enters pure beings and manifests for its protection. Through the truthful mantra and the path of ṛta, She removes obstacles for the noble. It is by Her that yajña is guided, and even battle, when required for dharma, is directed.

The later verses turn into a beautiful worship of Śacī’s lotus feet. Her feet are more beautiful than mandāra leaves, brighter than the finest rubies, and purer than all purifying forces. Their radiant nails remove darkness, shine with the reflected jewels of the Devas’ crowns, and dwell in the heart-caves of great yogins. The Stabaka concludes with a prayer that Indra’s beloved may make Vāsiṣṭha powerful enough to protect his own nation.
